A Vintage Prom Dress Passes the Test

As more and more high schools tighten the dress code for prom, high school students are turning to vintage prom dresses as the solution. Not only are they more affordable, but they also tend to be more conservative, complying with the dress codes of most schools.

Today’s dresses are all about selling sex appeal. It is very difficult for a 17 or 18 year old girl to find a dress that is appropriate, a dress that isn’t too sexy on one hand, and isn’t little girly on the other. The optimal dress is a happy medium of sophisticated, and classy, not trashy, and that is surprisingly hard to find, in retail stores at least.

That’s where vintage comes in. Second hand and vintage stores have a great selection of dresses that are perfect for prom. While vintage dresses are more conservative, with modest necklines, and longer hems, they are far from matronly or frumpy. Many vintage dresses rely on high quality fabrics, and good construction to create a flattering and figure enhancing shape, instead of exposing skin to be sexy. It’s all about the suggestion of what is underneath, the intrigue and allure that makes them appealing. You don’t have to be half naked to be sexy.

And since so many contemporary designers are creating vintage inspired dresses, they actually look very modern. All over runways, and fashion magazines, we are seeing retro looks. Louis Vuitton and Prada are both showcasing a 1950s inspired ad campaign. Retro glamor, a la Marilyn Monroe, Brigit Bardot, and Audrey Hepburn, is the in look, and perfect for prom. A vintage dress won’t look old fashion, it will actually look avant garde, and modern, like you just stepped off the runway, or better yet, out of a fashion magazine.

And there are still more benefits to wearing a vintage or second hand prom dress. Not only will you look amazing, and comply with the dress code, you’ll also save a bundle of money. Vintage dresses and second hand designer dresses tend to be much more affordable than what you’ll find in retail stores, usually around one third of the price.

You won’t have to worry about anyone else having the same dress. One of the biggest fears at prom is that some other girl is going to be wearing the same dress you are, and worse yet, that she will look better in it than you do! If you wear a vintage dress, this certainly won’t be a concern. Instead, everyone will be talking about how unique your dress is, and how amazing you look. You won’t even hear “I almost bought that dress!”. Or “I saw that in the store too!”.

Wearing a vintage or second hand dress to prom will save you from so many of the prom disasters. You won’t have to worry about being turned away for not complying with the dress code, you won’t have to worry about another girls wearing the same dress, and with all the money you save, you’ll even be able to get your hair and make up done!

Get Comfortable Naked

There’s only one way to get good at or comfortable at doing something. That is to do it over and over again. Constantly practicing something will give you confidence and make you more comfortable with whatever you do. Lets take nudity as an example. If you’re not comfortable being naked in front of others, then there’s really only one way to get comfortable. That way is to be naked in front of other people.

Yes, there are small steps you can take to help you reach that goal, but in the end the only real way to get comfortable is to be naked around others and do it over and over again. Now, obviously you can’t just go around being naked in our society. There are laws against that, but like everything else, there is a time and a place for nakedness. Let’s take the locker room for example.

Changing in the locker room is expected and allowed. Therefore getting naked in there is no big deal. If you plan on going into the pool or the showers you will eventually have to take all of your clothes off. Once again that’s expected in that environment.

So, next time you go into the shower, just remember that it’s normal for you and everyone else to be naked in there. Just get in, do what you’re there to do and then get out. Take your time too. Nothing screams uncomfortable like someone frantically trying to wash up. Just relax and take your time. Imagine that you are alone at home taking a shower.

Once done showering, take your time drying off and getting dressed. This will help you remain calm and get used to being undressed around others. We are creatures of habit and the more you do this, the easier it will become. Even as time goes by you might get a little nervous, but just put those thoughts aside and remember that you’ve done it plenty of times before.

Some people find it difficult to be naked around people they know, like friends and family, while they feel perfectly comfortable getting undressed around strangers. After all you may never see that stranger again, but you will see your friends again. You might worry what they’ll think about your body. I say, who cares? It’s your body and you’re the one that has to live with it.

And since we aren’t capable of reading minds, stop assuming that you know what they’re thinking. To get comfortable being naked around your friends and family is the same as with strangers. The more you do it, the more comfortable you’ll become.

Naked Time – How To Get Your Toddler To Wear Clothes

What is the first thing you look at when you find out you are pregnant? Is it baby clothes? Well, believe it or not, during the initial year of your baby’s life, a bunch of time will go into your child’s clothing.

Parents always want their kids to wear clean clothes despite the colors that they may choose from. Wearing comfortable clothes is what parents want for their babies. Yet, what do you do when your child no longer wants to wear clothing. What can a parent do?

Around fourteen months of age, your baby will want to roam around butt-naked. It is completely normal for children to go around with no clothes on. This could in fact help with potty training. No clothes to take off for when they need to use the potty chair.

At this age, social norms is almost impossible to introduce to a toddler especially when you have company coming over. So how do you deal with a naked toddler?

For starters, don’t discourage the behavior completely. Yet, do set limits about where and when he or she can be naked and be sure to enforce the rule. You will need to repeat this rule several times and keep dressing him so he or she will get the message.

Definitely watch your toddler in public as it is likely they will throw off their shoes and jackets and before you know it, try to peel off all the other clothes. You don’t want to lose the expensive items.

One thing that can help both you and your child out is to set up a “naked time”. This can be when your child roams free for however long you set it for. Be sure to keep a watchful eye on them during this time so they will not hurt themselves. This time should be set when the traffic in your household should be kept at a minimum or doesn’t see a lot of traffic. While you and your toddler may be okay with his or her naked time, friends and neighbors, more than likely, will not be.

This might be the time to let your child do some of the deciding on what clothes he or she would like to wear. Let them dress themselves a couple of times a week. If you do this, it may get them to stay dressed instead of being naked. This freedom time lets your child begin to understand how important clothing matters in the life of grown-ups.

Try not to let the discipline focus about the toddler’s body and more only on his or her clothing. Without intentionally doing so, you could make them feel self-conscious. The discomfort the child feels can go all the way until the adult years.

One way to help your child in factoring private time and public time is set up a play date right before and after the “naked time”. Let them set their own boundaries, at least in their own mind.

Don’t forget that this part of life for your toddler is a time for exploration. Even though you have been through things before, he or she hasn’t. It’s time to let them figure things out on their own.
